August 2019 Stratford, Ontario – The 2019 Wellington County Plowing Match, hosted recently on the Driscoll family farm in Moorefield, was the scene of many plowing match activities for all, including Liberal Candidate for Perth Wellington, Pirie Mitchell.
He plowed in competition with the Mayor of Mapleton, Gregg Davidson , councilors and special guests.
Mitchell has deep roots in the community and a passionate commitment to building a better future for everyone throughout the riding. Following a career as an elementary and secondary special education teacher, Pirie went on to lead churches in St. Marys, Stratford, and Palmerston as a minister with the United Church of Canada.
Pirie would like to thank everyone who made his introduction to the art of plowing possible and hopes to return again. “Farmers and the agriculture industry are at the heart of of our community in Perth-Wellington. Building a healthy and prosperous community only happens when we stand together. “
Pirie and his wife, Ruth, are proud parents and grandparents, with five children and three grandchildren between them. As a former town councilor in Parkhill, Mitchell has political experience at the municipal level and is passionate about working for the betterment of his community.
“It’s now up to all of us to make opportunities available to the next generations, whether they be our own descendants or descendants of new Canadians from faraway places. Let us continue to be a beacon to the world where we are admired and respected because we have Liberal values which benefit everyone.”
He is committed to working with Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team to protect our environment, lower the cost of living for families and offer real help for everyone in Perth-Wellington.
